German Design Award 2023

Ceramic Bodies by Studio Jörg Hugo received the German DESIGN AWARD 2023

I am very happy to share that Ceramic Bodies received the German Design Award 2023! Thank you to the judges of the GermanDesignAward 2023 hosted by the #germandesigncouncil for awarding this project.

The project investigates the complex behaviors and aesthetic possibilities of ceramic materials. The composition consists of four interlocking vases with varying degrees of viscosity and hardness. The challenge of this 3dim puzzle is to find the optimal configuration that maximizes the cohesion of the overall composition while still retaining the legibility of the individual vases.

The German Design Awards are the premium award of the German Design Council. With its worldwide spectrum and international appeal, it is one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape across all industries. Every year, extraordinary submissions in product design, communication design and architecture are honored.

German Design Award 2022

Lightbody 04 by Studio Jörg Hugo received the German DESIGN AWARD 2022

I am happy and proud to announce that I received the #germandesignaward2022 for Lightbody 04, a lighting object made out of handblown glass from my lightbody series.
Lightbody 04 as part of my Lightbody Series investigates the role of typology in design. Existing lighting typologies are decomposed, reassembled, and modified based on the interacting forces of pressure and tension during the making of hand-blown glass.

Thanks to two friends and excellent glassmakers Peter Kuchinke @kuchinkepeter and Jesse Guenther @jpaulgun accompanying me all this way!
