Designtalk with Martin Mostböck at the Austrian Culture Forum Berlin
In the Design Talk “Somewhere in Between”, I spoke with Martin Mostböck about working between architecture and design, in a conversation moderated by Jasmin Dieterle-Proesel (mvrdv ).
Rather than treating both as separate disciplines, we approached them as a shared field with shifting boundaries—defined less by categories than by how work is positioned within it.
Using selected projects between object, installation, and space, we focused on material, form, and space as basic parameters. Their relative weighting creates a spectrum of possibilities, not an either/or distinction.
The “In Between” thus becomes a mode of practice: a precise and productive condition emerging from the balance of material, form, and space.
Introduced by Hans-Jürgen Commerell (Aedes Architecture Forum) and Kilian Hanappi (acf_berlin) the talk took place at the Austrian Cultural Forum built by Hans Hollein—many thanks for the introduction.
